'Flu Bird' Saturday
Returning from having a few pints at the pub, I decided it was time to crack a few more and check out what new "beast vs. mankind" flick the SciFi Channel cooked up. And I was rewarded with, "Flu Bird Horror." Which I think should be retitled, "Flu Pterodactyl Horror," as these beasties looked nothing like birds. Even though the parks ranger guy said that they were obviously some form of condor. When did condors grow bat wings?
I'm not going to give a full review here. Mainly because the Guinness was flowing well and my recollections of the movie in it's entirety is vague at best. I do remember all the camera shaking. It worked okay when the guy was looking around quickly, trying to see what was attacking him. Everywhere else it was just annoying. This is one cinematic "trick" that I'm ready to see go away.
When morning finally rolled around, or was that closer to afternoon, I decided to scope the Net and see what I could find out about the movie. I was fairly shocked to discover that no one had put any information about this movie on imdb. Is there anyone that wants to be associated with it? It couldn't have been that bad. I mean, it is a SciFi Channel presents movie, we don't expect that much from them.
Some of the working titles were "Flu Birds" and "Screech." I wonder if they would have had to give Dustin Diamond a percentage if they had gone with the latter. I guess it's unfair to still associate Diamond with his Screech character. I mean, he is a big time porn star now.
As I dug around further, I found out it was a Leigh Scott flick. I was surprised I didn't notice that. As I strained to recall the cast, the only Scott regular I could recall was Rebekah Kochan. Speaking of whom, she had what appeared to be a quick breast shot that was edited out. Will we get treated to an unedited shot on the DVD? It certainly worked for "Frankenfish." Kochan's brief snogging scene also ended with the magical one second my shirt is off, a split second later, it's back on. Voila! (Check out clip for magic shirt.)
Ah, SciFi Channel. What wonders will you have for me next week?
