'Eden Lake' Floods UK Theatres

Optimum Releasing reminds us that the new British thriller, "Eden Lake," will be in UK theatres September 12th. "Eden Lake" was penned by James Watkins, writer of "My Little Eye" and "Descent 2." (There was a "Descent 2?") This is Watkins directorial debut.

Nursery teacher Jenny, Kelly Reilly ("Dead Bodies," "Puffballs"), is whisked away for a relaxing getaway by her boyfriend, Steve, Michael Fassbender ("Hex," "300"). Their idyllic weekend is shattered when they are confronted by a gang of violent youths. When Steve confronts them, he is brutally assaulted. Desperately seeking help, Jenny must endure a relentless cat-and-mouse game as she tries to evade the gang and find her way out of the forest.

The clip certainly got my attention. It may be worth it just to see Kelly Reilly. The Weinstein Company is handling distribution on this side of the pond. Don't know if that will mean a theatrical release or straight to DVD.
