A trucker tells three tales of horror to a hot hitchhiker in the anthology movie, Terror Overload: Tales from Satan's Truck Stop, from Not For The Squeamish Productions. Are the stories being told to pass the time, or to prepare the party girl for a tale of her own?

Anthology movies seem to do one of two things. Put the best story at the beginning, in order to get your attention. Or put the best story at the end, in hopes that you'll forget the train wreck that led you there and just remember the last bit. Terror Overload definitely falls in the latter category. The third segment and the wraparound finale outshine the rest by far.

The movie opens with a girl running for her live in the woods. Not exactly sure who she was or what that has to do with any of the plots, but it's in there. Scarlet Salem is on her way to a party when she has a bit of car trouble. Fortunately, or unfortunately for her, an 18-wheeler stops and the driver, cult scribe Joe Knetter, offers her a ride. In the truck, that is. He introduces the segments, then gives her a real scare.

Scarlet is attractive and the camera seems to like her. Especially when she bends over, although that's probably supposed to be the trucker's eyes following her. Her fans will also enjoy a quick change from party gown to bra-less wife beater tee. Would that make it a husband beater, then? And, as stated earlier, the ending is a good one.

The only trouble I have with the wraparound is some technical issues. Whatever special effects filter they added to make the sky dark and headlights glow was okay. But there is a garbage bag or some other black plastic outside the passenger side window, but only for the interior shots. As cute as Scarlet Salem is, I couldn't stop looking at the camera light being reflected off the black plastic. Yes, I'm being picky, but it was really distracting.

In the first vignette, “Blind Date,” Rachel Grubb gets invited to a dude's house for dinner. And yes, the outcome is seen before she even gets there. Rachel pulls Trilogy of Terror duty as she stars in all three segments of the movie. Her fans and nudity seekers will enjoy her shower scene. And there's a gory scene toward the end of the story for bloodhounds. All others can skip this part.

“Lot Lizard,” the second tale, a hard-leg trucker visits a bar a buddy told him was a place that was full of chicks and he would definitely get laid. There aren't many women available, until two women come in and promise him a good time. This segment was more torture porn that horror story. Unless that's you're thing, I'd avoid it completely. There's a filler bathroom scene that didn't belong there, unless it's to show that the guy doesn't wash his hands. There's a sign outside that says this is a strip club, so where are the dancers? If you must watch this segment, you'll be rewarded with a topless Rachel Grubb but you'll have to endure a scene guaranteed to make any man squirm. Keep a cold beer handy, you'll need it.

In the final installment, “Mongo Chupa,” we're finally given a fun segment that's a horror/humor hybrid. And that's not the only hybrid, either. Ray Rae, played by Ari Lehman, enjoys incest with his sisters, Rachel Grubb and Leah Avery, and pimping them out to the yokels. This segment is funny, a little bloody, and naked. Pretty much everything you could want from low budget exploitation horror.

Overall, this movie is okay, but the first two segments just drag it down too far to be good. Fans of any of the female stars won't be disappointed. The rest of us will definitely require a distraction, some frosty beverages, or both. Hopefully, the guys from Not For The Squeamish productions will give us more movies like the "Mondo Chupa" and wraparound segments.
